The region around the Bay of Bengal encompasses five countries in South Asia (India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, and Maldives) and five countries in Southeast Asia (Myanmar, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia), making it extremely important in geopolitical terms. Currently, domestic academic research on the region around the Bay of Bengal has not yet formed a "regional system" approach, and is largely focused on "country-specific" studies of the coastal countries in this region. Foreign research on the region around the Bay of Bengal is primarily concentrated on the security situation in the northeastern Indian Ocean and the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC). This book focuses on the region around the Bay of Bengal, which is a necessary passage for China's "Marine Silk Road," and conducts in-depth research from three dimensions: "geopolitics, regional cooperation, and security governance," aiming to provide useful assistance and reference for China's "Belt and Road" initiative.
