On the morning of May 27th, Professor Bojan Lalic, Director of the Faculty of Technical Sciences at the University of Novi Sad in Serbia and the Institute for One Belt One Road Studies in Belgrade, visited our institute and delivered an academic lecture titled "Opportunities and Challenges for Cooperation between China and Serbia in the Context of High-Quality Joint Construction of the Belt and Road Initiative." The lecture was hosted by Professor Xu Man, Executive Director of the Institute of Regional and National Studies and International Communication at Shenzhen University. Mr. Zhong Zhaofu, Deputy Manager of the Consulting Department at the Center for Environmental Technology Exchange and Transfer under the Belt and Road Initiative, was also invited to attend the event. Other participants included Professor Zhu Xianghui from the School of Foreign Languages, Assistant Professor Chen Si, Dedicated Researcher Zu Haoyue, and Postdoctoral Researchers Fu Le and Zhou Yupeng from the Institute of Regional and National Studies and International Communication, as well as doctoral and master's degree candidates from the School of Communication and School of Foreign Languages at Shenzhen University.
Professor Bojan Lalic began by exploring the development environment of the Belt and Road Initiative and reviewing the achievements of its first decade. This included the history of the Silk Road and its impact on the modern Belt and Road Initiative, emphasizing the importance of cultural and intellectual exchanges, and discussing how technological advancements and political stability facilitate international cooperation. Notably, Professor Lalic analyzed President Xi Jinping's speech at the opening ceremony of the Third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation, discussing how to achieve development goals against the backdrop of significant changes. During the meeting, Professor Lalic highly acknowledged the current status of cooperation between China and Serbia in fields such as economy and trade, infrastructure, education, science and technology, and culture. In particular, regarding infrastructure construction, China and Serbia have successfully completed multiple key projects. The implementation of these projects has not only promoted local economic development but also enhanced the friendship between the two peoples.

During the meeting, Professor Lalic elaborated on the development priorities of the Belt and Road Initiative for the next decade, emphasizing the crucial role of multiple Chinese enterprises, such as Zijin Mining Group, in supporting infrastructure and environmental protection projects. He also proposed new initiatives for the current global economic evaluation system, such as GDP, suggesting the adoption of more practical development indicators. Furthermore, Professor Lalic discussed the importance of China's role in soft infrastructure development, including legal and institutional frameworks, as well as the formulation of global supply chain and carbon emission standards, demonstrating China's commitment and vision towards global cooperation and sustainable development.
